Grand Tour Sphinx Candlestick

This souvenier isdefinitely from the "Grand Tour" although I am not sure what exactly its purpose was. Today, I display it with a candle as the insert is round and roughly 7/8" in diameter. She does have a few scratches and wear marks that will be even in another 100 years. Her face is quite pretty and the carving is nicely done. The base does have two holes as if it was mounted to something but who knows. As found.
