Quick Overview
I love to restore fine antique lamps back to their original brilliance. This fine quality lamp has swans along the base and the scrolling flowers and vines that decorate the delicate stem and chase the armature - it really is a thing of beauty. But it needed my love... It became my therapy project, my labor of love during the Covid shutdown. It took 7 months to achieve the finished lamp I present here. When I first purchased it, it needed to be rewired as it had old circa 1910 black cloth wire that was frayed and dangerous. I noticed after examining it I noticed that it once had a patina and each fragment of the lamp was cast and perfectly and skillfully built as one unit. The quality of chasing and attention to detail is amazing. I chose to "tiffany" re-patina the entire lamp and then reassemble it. It has a new old stock antique socket and I fitted it with a glass shade diffuser to hold a new Lundberg Studios Damascene pulled feather glass shade that has hints of rich iridescent gold and purple "pearl" When lighted, it glows with a brilliant red gold light. The stylized swan base is heavy enough and ending in three swan acanthus pad feet. This lamp would look amazing in a living room next to a couch or reading chair or in an office study behind a desk. Not for a home with small kids. Overall height 53 inches tall, 9 inch shade, base about 11 inches.
